The turbaning of the 6th Alangua Logun of Malete District in Moro Local Government Area was held in grand style, courtesy of the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.

Alhaji Dangiwa Suleiman Abdulkadir Logun expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Emir for his role in facilitating the successful coronation, which took place at the Emir’s palace on Friday, September 12, 2025.

Speaking at a reception held at the Logun family compound in the Oloje area, the new Alangua Logun acknowledged the Emir’s approval as instrumental to his emergence. “If the family had presented a candidate and the Emir didn’t want that particular candidate, there’s nothing anyone could do because we can’t go against his wish,” he said.

Alhaji Logun called for unity among family members, echoing the counsel of his forefathers against disunity. He noted that as the sixth person to ascend the throne, his coronation marked the most elaborate celebration so far. He also reflected on the history of the stool, recalling that his grandfather served as Alangua Logun for over 30 years, while others served for shorter tenures of five, three, and ten years, respectively.

Currently serving as the Zonal Chairman of the Block Builders Association, Kwara State Chapter, Alhaji Logun credited his leadership qualities and popularity to his academic and professional background. He holds degrees in Building Engineering and Public Administration, as well as a Master’s degree in Security and Peace Studies. “With my level of maturity and exposure, I’m well-equipped to handle things properly,” he stated.

One of his sons, who traveled from Abuja to attend the ceremony, expressed delight over his father’s coronation. He praised Alhaji Logun’s honesty, which he said was evident in the large turnout of well-wishers.

The Logun family offered prayers of gratitude to Almighty Allah and thanked all guests for their presence at the historic occasion.
